January 5, 2004 - permalink I took down the Christmas tree this Sunday wearing a pair of shorts. The weather was in sharp contrast to the day in mid-December when I bought the tree. After folding up the lights, I put on a Hawaiian shirt and took a walk.
The Ripple EffectStyle has an interesting article on the short life span of suburbs. As suburbs near the city approach mid-life, their desirability is decreasing. Instead, many of the problems that have been faced downtown are starting to move out into the counties. A telling statistic has been the murder rate; murders have gone up slightly in Richmond while they've increased by 150% in Henrico. The good news is that people are moving out of the sprawl of the suburbs back into the city. The bad news is that developers in the counties are dealing with the issue by building more subdivisions even further out, continuing the ripple effect far into the future. Pork 4 KidsHoping to cash in on the carnivorous success of Cool2BReal, the pork industry has its site for kids, simply called Pork4Kids. Kids can play games. Families can read up on great pork recipes. Of course, all of these resources just help kids move onto the greatest meat product of all. |
