November 26, 2003 - permalink Still DrinkingI removed the "drinking" section on the site, but have had some nifty beverages in the last couple of days. POM Wonderful is a blueberry and pomegranate juice blend. I first read about it on MetaFilter. A couple of days later, I saw a couple of bottles in the bottom of the refrigerator case. POM is a pleasant mix of sweat and tart, chock full of antioxidants. It also has an ominously bulbous bottle, reminiscent of a pomegranate? The other treat, I tried this weekend was Boba. Boba are small tapioca pearls put into either tea (called Bubble Tea) or a slushy. I enjoyed my Boba in a Mango slushy from the TT Lounge, a tea and slush parlor that opened up on Cary next door to Candy Land music. The mango slushy itself was quite good, with a small slice of mango at the bottom of the cup. The boba added a new experience to the slushy. In order to drink the boba, they give you a large thick straw. The boba sit at the bottom of the cup, creating a layer of dark blue in the purple slushy. As you drink the drink, boba rise up the straw and into your mouth. How do boba taste? Boba are mildly sweet and chewy in a cookie dough sort of way. With Boba in the slushy, I ended up with something to both eat and drink. I plan to go back to the TT Lounge and try a bubble tea next. Just in time for Thanksgiving, Jones Soda has come out with a new flavor. Not cranberry, not pumpkin, they have a turkey and gravy flavored soda. The soda is only available in a small number of markets. But what else goes better with the taste of turkey and gravy than the taste of turkey and gravy StupiditySlashdot had a review of a new book - The Search for Stupidity. While reading through the discussions, I managed to pick up a couple of good links on stupidity. One is a good recap on why stupid people don't know that they're stupid. The other is an interesting theory on personality types - dividing them into the Stupid, the Intelligent, the Helpless and Bandits. |
