It's summer and most of the trappings of summer have been in town for a while– barbecues, cherries and Mobjack Blueberry Wheat. After ten weekends of rain, the summer heat has also made it back in time for summer. Aside from keeping dry, I've been keeping a drab routine of work, sleep and eat.

Movies About Comic Books

Spideman and Daredevil have already been made, the Hulk has just arrived, and Hellboy is on his way. However, one of the favorites from the Sundance Festival is Harvey Pekar's American Splendor. Even though I only own a couple of copies, I have a soft spot for American Splendor – like me, Pekar is a music fan, a comic book fan, a Cleveland native and a regular working Joe. American Splendor is also one of the most unlikely comics to be adapted for the screen – yes, even more unlikely than Ghost World. It seems like the movie industry is reaching everywhere for ideas, digging through every available comic and even reaching across the Pacific to Japan. In the case of American Splendor, I have a feeling that's a good thing.
