March 21, 2003

It is raining again. And it will rain some more this weekend. And some days will be cold. And some days will be hot. Well, at least I made it up to the floor where the court rooms are for jury duty. Then they settled the case. I wonder if they had Joel Bieber.

Ministry of Information Clear Channel Communications

You can gripe about the political slant of NPR or Fox News [sic]. However, neither one actually organizes political rallies. Clear Channel Communications, with 1,233 stations across the country, has organized Pro-War rallies in cities across the country, including one in Richmond this coming weekend. I think Elvis Costello said it best -

So, you had better do as you are told,
You better listen to the radio.

Stop the War, Rudy – Save Us

Recently, Richmond's Mayor (and my City Councilman), Rudy McCollum, called for a vote in opposition to the war against Iraq. Now, he's thinking of a resolution in support of the troops. It seems that only Style Magazine knows the truth.

Funny Things

Boingboing is the home of wonderful and funny things.

Food from the 70's

Weight watchers used to have a series of recipe cards in the 70's for people looking to "reduce". Well, Poundy has collected these cards and they provide a frightening insight into American cuisine from the 70's. The cards only have the photographs, no actual recipes are included. Out of the list, my picks are – best name of recipe: Fish Balls; best photograph: Frankfurter Spectacular.

Swedish Rock from the 70's

Oh yeah, there was Swedish rock and roll before The Hives and Sahara Hotnights. While you're enjoying your Fluffy Mackarel Pudding, enjoy the mellow sounds of the Ivan Henrys. Or party on with the upbeat tunes of Yngveforssells.
